MONTHLY REPORTS
Tlie following reports are to he presented at to-night’s meeting of the Borough Council: —
Overseer.
I beg to report on the progress of work for the past mouth as follows: The sides of Rosalind Street have been re-formed to a width of -12 ft. and. its footpath to a width of 12ft. The culvert in Cordelia Street at its junction with Rosalind Street has aeon extended to 42ft. wide. Metal patching has been done on Pembroke Road West and Broadway Central. A 16ft. culvert has been'put in in Cordelia Street to divert storm water therefrom along Falstaff Street. A 12ft. culvert has been put in in Sylvia Street at its junction with Regan Street. The right-of-way at the municipal buildings has been gravelled. 1 hundred and seven six-inch pipes nave been carted from the waterworks .utake to the Borough yards, Lear . Street, ready for use, The filter beds and effluent drains at the septic tank have been seen to, and the septic tank is in first-class working order. The Egmont. Club building lias been connected with the Borough sewers. Fifteen concrete blocks for fire-plugs have been made and will be placed in position when sufficiently consolidated. Two water services have been put in during the month. The work of laying water-pipes in Cordelia Street was put in hand on September' .30th. All the fire-plugs in lire ..Borough have been inspected and they were found to bo in good order. Works Committee. The Overseer has been instructed to have the distances distinctly marked on all posts indicating the .position of fire-plugs, alsp tp attend to the footpath on .the southVeide of Gelia Street between Broadway and Miran da Street. We beg, to recommend as follows:—That the Kaciug CJuh and Mr T. H. Penn bo asked to remove tho trees on their respective properties which shade the roads. That Portia Street, between Celia and Romeo Itreets, he opened up so as to he ivailable for cart traffic; the estimated cost of this, work is £l6. That the Council obtain a truck load of concrete pipes of assorted sizes for culvert purposes. Estimated number of pipes, .39 12-inch and 20 9-inch, four tons. Estimated cost, £1.3 9s Id at Stratford. That Mrs A. E. Sliarroek’s request to have water laid m to lots 15 and 16 of section 59, Antonio Street, be refused, as there is no dwelling-house on the section. That Mr Kirkwood be informed that ais suggestion to have a six-inch water main laid in Miranda Street between Regan and Fenton Streets will have consideration when funds are available for tho purpose, Mr J. Butcher’s request to have the water laid on to his house on Cloton Road was, granted by your Committee. A request from Mi- Chinehon to bo allowed to make a footpath opposite his property (sections 373, 374, and 376, Miranda Street) at his own expense, part of tho earth taken to be used on the sections and part to improve the gullcy on the roadway, was left in the hands of the chairman' and the Overseer with power to act. A request from the Postal Department to be allowed to stack telegraph poles on tho Town Hall reserve in Juliet Street was referred to the chairman i and Overseer to interview the Postmaster and report to the Council.
