At my Waiwakaiho yards on Friday, loth instant, 1 had a large entry of all classes. The dairy cattle yarded were a poor lot, and sold accordingly, though empty heifers were keenly competed for. Prices were Mixod yearlings 35s Gd to £2) Bs, yearling heifers 80s to 48s, 30s Gd to 355, 2 year heifers £3 8s to £3 18s, • store , cows £2 2s Gd to £3 15s, forward cows £1 Bs, springing heifers' (poor) £3 10s (o £1 11s, springing' cows £4 to £8 15s (according to quality). A nice line of grade Jersey yearling heifers well done realised £4 10s. At Urcnui on Monday, 18th, owing to tiie very boisterous weather, I had but. a small yarding, and only a fail attendance of buyers. Ridding through out the afternoon was dull, and only about half the cattle entered were quitted at the following prices:— Yearling steers £2 3s Gd to £2 12s Gd yearling heifers (poor) £2 2s, 15 months Jersey heifers £3 IGs, 2 year empty heifers £3 7s to £3 15s J3d, 2 year steers £4 Is, springing heifers £4 to £6 12s Gd, sore cows £2 10s to £3, forward cows £3 7s to £3 3.25. At my Stratford yards on Tuesday. 19th, I had a large entry of all classes. Bidding throughout the afternoon was dull, but good business .war done, yearlings meeting with Letter demand than at previous sales Fresh cows realised £3 13s Gd to £3 15s, forward cows £4 15s, stores £2 7s Gd to £3 12s Gd, 2 year empty heifers £3 13s to £3 18s, mixed year; lings £2 2s to £2 5s Gd, yearling steers 37s Gd to £2 3s Gd, good grade Jersey yearling heifers £3 5s to £3 10s, poorer £2 0s Gd to £2 10s Gd, grade Holstcins £3 0s Gd, yearling bull 345, 2 year Jersey heifers £4,4s Gd.
On the same day mv springing heifer yards were well rilled with; dairy cattle, which met with, keen demand flood cattle close to profit sold well as follows:—Springing heifers £7 tc £9, later £5 5s to £6 12s 6c], 2 year heifers £3 to £5, springing; cows £G 17s Gd to £8 10s. ; -im, At my Stony River said. ,pp Wednesday, 20th, there was pnly ja small entry, but .a good attendance of the public. During tire week 1 have quitted; a large number of cattle, principally; 2 roar empty heifers, the majority of which have gone out of the district. Prices obtained were :—Empty heifers £3 17s to £4 10s, choice do. £5 ss, yearling steers £2 3s, yearling heifers £2 7s, springing heifers £G 5s to £7 ss, several dairy herds from £8 10s to £lO 10s, team of bullocks and dray £l2O, fat bullocks, £lO 70s, fat cows v£G ss, fat ewes 18s Gd, hoggets 12s Gd, fat sheep IGs. Matths’.vs and Bennett’s Report. Messrs. Matthews and. Bennett report that there was a good entry ol cattle, in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, most lots changing bands. Prices arc as follows:—Yearlings, good, £2 13s to £2 19s; yearlings, small, 35s to £2; store cows, £2 os to £3 11s; bulls, £3 to £G 15s; springing heifers, £5 to £8; springing cows, £5 to Q 10; ewes, lambed ,14s Id.
