MISAPPROPRIATION.

D A CASHIER IN TROUBLE. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, September 6. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Mr W. G. Riddell, S.M., John Scott, an elderly man, appeared on remand, charged with having misappropriated money and with having falsified certain books of the Wellington Meat Export Company, by whom he was employed as cashier and ledgerkeeper. The charges were : .-'I Entering receipt of £25 4s 5d for New Zealand Trawling Company, when lie received £54; (2) entering payment by the same company of £22 13s 9d, instead of £7O 13s 6d; also, on the information of H. B. Gray, the accountant, he was charged with emitting from the cash book and ledgers of the Wellington Moat Export Company Certain payments received. After evidence had been given by several witnesses accused pleaded guilty, and was committd to the Supreme Court for sentence.
