COLLAPSE OF A STAND.
HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE INJURED. New York, August 27. A grandstand collapsed at the Elgin (Illinois) automobile contest. Thousands were involved in the accident, “and three hundred were injured. A panic started, and the police and soldiers used their clubs on the terrified people, who streamed over the course iu front of the racing cars. Many were injured, and may die. (Received 28, 8.40 a.in.) New York, August 27.
Thirty persons have been taken ti. the hospital as a result of the collapse of grandstand.
