SUNDRY SUGGESTIONS. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, August 23. Several questions in connection with elections and franchise were considered by' the Counties Conference to-day. It was decided to urgently request the Government to amend the proccedure for the compilation of the Cotmty roll so that the name, occupation, address, and qualification of every elector shall he fully set forth, and by such information prevent fraud and misrepresentation ; that the method of compiling the County electors’ foils be altered so as to do away with the necessity cf going nefore a. Magistrate; that" the Counties Act he amended so as to allow travelling expenses to County Councillors being paid whenever travelling on a Council’s business; to pay the chairman an honorarium in lieu of travelling expenses.
