VOTES OF CENSURE

London, August 3

Lord Lansdowne, on behalf of Lord Gurzpri; gave notice of the moving of a vote of censure on the Government in the House of Lords on Tuesday, in similar terms to Mr. Balfour’s motion. The latter’s motion wr..? sp-rng «-‘th dramatic suddenness, and is regarded . in the lobby as a demonsh.ilion of force, aiming at the reconciliation of the Unionists and ten-ring to a V tisfactory combative policy of the •'stalwarts.” (Received 4, 8.5 a.ui.) Loudon, August 3. “The Times” states the censure motion will afford tiie Ministry an opportunity of explaining and vindicating their action in connection with, the prerogative. The motion is the result of the “Stalwart’s” appeal to Mr Balfour. Some Opposition papers attribute the enancy of the “Stalwarts” as breathing a new spirit into the Unionist party; others as a rebuke to indiscreet Unionist zealots. THE VETO BILL. London, August 3. The passage of the Veto Bill is practically settled. Parliament will hold an autumn session and then adjourn for a fortnight, resuming in October. THE INSURANCE BILL. London, August 8. Friendly Societies regard Hr. Addison’s amendment to the Insurance Bill as an infringement on their self-man-agement. Sir P. Magnus’ amendment, excluding earners with incomes of £lO4 annually.from medical benefits, was negatived. -is. Sir P. Magnus said that if it was accepted the doctors would co-operate loyally. Mr Llcyd-George resisted the amendment, which, he pointed out, would exclude the industrial population from the long-accustomed club medical benefits, but he accepted Hr. Addison’s amendment, giving the local health committees power to fix the salary limit beyond which an insured person will make his own medical arrangements.-
