Timothy Shaw, a single man, aged about 40, a partner in a contract in the formation of the Weetport-Ina-ugahua railway, was killed to-day through being struck by a shower of stones from a blast that had prematurely taken place on an adjoining contract. Deceased had an arm carried away, both legs broken, and body and facial injuries, and died about three hours after, the accident. . Two other men, Murphy and T. Corbett, were slightly injured. Nelson, July 3. The body of Mrs Ann Borrowman, aged 02, a resident of Capo Foulwind, was found floating in trio harbour this afternoon. She had been staying in Nelson, and was missed about 2.30, having failed to pay an expected visit to a relative. She leaves a grown-up family. Dunedin, July 3. The police have received word that a man named Richard Terry, aged SO years, (residing at Kakapuana, near Balclutha, committed suicide to-day by shooting himself. Palmerston North, July 3. At the inquest to-day on Frederick Schlericke, master plumber, who cut his throat on Wednesday, it was deposed that deceased, who had no financial worries, had afternoon tea with his mother and sister, and then went and cut his throat in the washhouse. Ho was suffering from nerves.
