VICTORIA GRAND NATIONAL. Melbourne, July 2. The Grand National Hurdles resulted:—Arquebuse 1, Sparkle 2, Obi 3. Starting well. Golden Cairn led out, followed by Rufus, Lady Esker, and Arquebuse. Leaving the straight Bribery and Hunterston went to the front, Golden Cairn attending. Passing the stand, The Reckoning assumed command, Arquebuse being closest, with Bribery running last. When there was half a mile to go, Arquebuse held the lead, The Reckoning and Sparkle a couple of lengths away, Arquebuse showed the way into the straight, the nearest being Sparkle and Mmi torsion, Then Sparke made a determined effort to overtake the leader, but Arquebuse, showing no signs of thing, won comfortably by four lengths. Sparkle beating <)•»" by six lengths for second place. Time, <"» min 49soc. All the acceptors started in the Grand National Hurdles. Minato, Bob, and Gilder fell. MOOEEFIELD HURDLES. Sydney, July 2. Home Rule ran third to Loughrea in the Mooreficld Park Hurdles.
