CRAFT IN RUSSIA.
WHOLESALE MILITARY ROBBERY. St. Petersburg, Juno 24. The trial is proceeding of two generals, 21 colonels, 28 captains, and four State Councillors of tho Moscow Supply Department, on charges of extortion and bribe-taking. One accused was alleged to have received £27,000. It is calculated that one firm, dur 7 ing 25 years, paid £2,000,000 in bribes as an inducement to the Department to accept soldiers’ boots of inferior quality. Soldiers sold tho boots, which tho contractors acquired and re-deliv-ersd to tho Department. It was also alleged that clerks deliberately spoiled samples from the firms which did not give bribes.
