AN EXPLANATION.
CT.;. tlie Editor “Stratford Post.”) Sir,- With reference to a rumour tiiai is circulating around the district here and other places stating that Mr Hinc, M.P., did not receive a complimentary ticket to the banquet which was hold here on May 9th in Jionour of the Minister of Public Works: Now, I emphatically deny the above rumour to lie true. If it is one of Mr Hino’s supporters who is circulating this about 1 think it is a very unmanly action to do when there is .no foundation in it. Also I may say injustice to Mr J. McCluggage and my committee, and I .think it is my duty to explain to the public re banquet. 5Vc were not aware of the Minister of Public Works coming here until Friday,. sth. We arranged a meeting that evening and ordered tickets next clay by wire. As you are all aware we have no daily service herb, and the tickets arrived on Monday the Bth, and the complimentary tickets were written by me anti given to the chairman of the executive’ committee who distributed; them to the Ministerial party. _ I may also say that js one of the minute's that, whs passed at cur meeting: “Proposed by Mr J. McClu ggago and seconded by Mr Hodge, that coinphl- - tickets be issued to the Ministerial party and friends. Carried unanimously.” Trusting the above explanation' will be sufficient to meet this false rumour; also thanking you kindly for space in your valuable c01,5.-i , s .-i cic. k 0 , 5 EABYi Secretary.
