BOWLING AND CROQUET AT OTAUTAU
The official opening of the Otautau bowling and croquet greens was held on Saturday in ideal weather. In declaring the bowling green open for play Mr James Thomson (president) welcomed those present and said the members appreciated the visit of a rink from the Nightcaps Club. The members had to have some recreation in these strenuous times, and he hoped they would have a successful season. Mrs Thomson rolled the first bowl. An adjournment was made to the croquet green, where Mr Thomson again performed the opening ceremony. He wished the members every success. Mrs Gordon played the first ball. Following were the winners of the competitions: Croquet to peg, Mrs E. T. Silverwood; bulls-eye, Mrs D. C. McCrostie; scallywag, Mrs Taylor.
