WOUNDED MEN RETURN HOME
Two Southland Soldiers
Two Southland soldiers, Private A. F. Jackson, of Waikiwi, and Gunner R. R. Kini, of Colac Bay, who returned to New Zealand with a recent draft of sick and wounded soldiers from overseas, arrived in Invercargill by the express from Dunedin yesterday afternoon. Both men had been in Dunedin Hospital. The men were met at the station by the Mayor, Mr A. Wachner, who extended to them a welcome home on behalf of the citizens and thanked them for the service they had given to their country. A Maori woman gave a traditional Maori welcome home in honour of Gunner Kini. Representatives of the Metropolitan Patriotic Committee, the Invercargill R.S.A. and the Red Cross Society were also present to welcome the men, and the transport section of the Red Cross Society provided cars to take them to their homes.
