PATRIOTIC COMMUNITY SING.—A successful community sing and sale of produce was held in Lumsden. The programme was supplied by a party from Gore, Mr H. Brown being song leader. A large assortment of produce was sold and the total takings amounted to £B4. Among the items sold was a pot of jam seven years old and bearing a prize ticket from the local show dated 1935. This was sold several times and .proved a money-maker, adding more than £9 to the funds. The mayoral contest resulted in a win for Mr R. Clearwater (Castlerock), who was duly installed by Mr W. D. Shelton, Mayor of Gore.
