PROFITS ON VICTORY ART UNION
The Victory Art Union held in Southland recently showed a net return of £3159/10/5, which has been paid into the patriotic fund. The total expenses were £192/14/6. These figures were disclosed at the final meeting of the committee yesterday when an audited balance-sheet was approved. The sales of tickets produced the following amounts in the different zones: Invercargill, £2376/11/-; Eastern, £147 15/-; Wyndham, £34/8/—; Fortrose, £2O/14/-; Winton, £164/8/-; Lumsden, £lO3/13/-; Otautau, £B7/5/-; Riverton, £72; Nightcaps, £56; Tuatapere, £65 12/-; Bluff and Stewart Island, £3B 5/-; Waimahaka, £B/3/-. Hie chairman (Mr P. L. Hodge) congratulated the women patriotic workers on their wonderful efforts in selling such a large number of tickets, particularly in the city. Tire Mayor (Mr A. Wachner) said it was a wonderful effort. It was decided to send letters of appreciation to Mr G. M. Baker, who had acted as secretary, the Invercargill Metropolitan Women’s Patriotic Committee and the zone committees.
