SOLDIER WELCOMED HOME

One of the largest crowds seen in the Orepuki Hall for some time was present when a social was held to welcome home Private L. Carroll, who has been invalided home, and his English bride. The opportunity was also taken to make a presentation of a suitcase to Miss Jean Keady, who Is joining the W.A.A.C. Sergeant A. McPherson, R.N.Z.A.F., was also present. Mr J. Brown, chairman, expressed good wishes and made a presentation to the guests on behalf of the R.S.A. Mr E. Bone expressed good wishes and Mr R. Lee spoke for the sporting bodies. On behalf of the citizens Mr E. Weir wished the guests the best of luck in their respective jobs. Mr S. Skipworth also spoke.
