Notes for Women
Miss Mary Grant, Mataura, spent the week-end at Garston. Miss Joan Waterston, Yarrow street, has returned after spending a few days in Dunedin. Mrs Audrey Meek has returned to Dunedin after a visit to Mrs Stanley Rice, Wyndham. Mrs Ralph Wesney, Avenal Flats, and Mrs N. W. Crosbie, Balclutha, have been the guests of Mrs S. J. Burdon, Lumsden. Mrs R. C. B. Greenslaae, Dunedin, has returned after a visit to Dr and Mrs R. G. Stokes, Gore. Miss Monica Ford, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. C. Ford, Ettrick street, was successful in the terms examination at Auckland University College, where she is studying for her degree of architecture. Miss Ford gained 85 per cent, for her paper on reconstruction and 94 per cent, for theory of design. The examiner commented that 94 per cent, was the highest mark that had been given for a paper on this subject, at the university. The annual meeting of the Music Circle of the Southland Women’s Club was held last night when the following office-bearers were elected:—Chairman, Mrs E. K. Mills; secretary, Mrs A. C. Dickens; committee, Mesdames C. Lange, F. Lange, J. S. Brass, M. F. Woods, S. Brown, J. Gaspaiich, T. Mathews and Miss W. M. McNaughton. After the meeting the following programme was presented: Pianoforte duet, Mrs A. E. H. Bath and Miss M. B. Campbell; solos, Mrs B. W. Hewat, Misses D. Thomson ond Miss W. M. McNaughton; duet, Misses D. Thomson and W. M. McNaughton; pianoforte solos, Mrs T. Mathews, Mrs A. F. Manning and Miss R. Wesney.
