WOMEN AS PILOTS
Visit By Mrs Roosvelt
(8.0.W.) RUGBY, October 26. Mrs Roosevelt, with Mr J. G. Winant, the American Ambassador, and United States officials were the guests last night of Mr and Mrs Churchill. Today, with Mrs Churchill, she visited an air transport auxiliary aerodrome in the Home counties, where she met many American girls now serving as pilots. She was given an enthusiastic reception. Addressing the workers at the invitation of the Minister of Aircraft Production, Colonel J. J. Lleweliin Mrs Roosevelt said women had not been used to anything like the same extent in connection with aircraft in the United States as in Britain, but America was going to be very grateful for the experience learned in Britain. Later Mrs Roosevelt and Mrs Churchill visited an Auxiliary Territorial Service training establishment. This evening she visited the American Red Cross Club for Nurses in London.
