Sale reported: Union Bank of Australia £7/5/-. LORNEVILLE STOCK SALE Increase In Price Of Wethers There were larger yardings in all sections but store sheep at the Lorneville stock sale yesterday. Values for good quality ewes remained firm and wethers advanced by 2/-. An offering of extra prime woolly wethers sold at £2/14/-. FAT SHEEP.— There was an exceptionally large yarding in this section, the bulk of the entry consisting of good quality ewes. The market was a good one, especially for wethers, which sold at 2/- a head better than last week. Best wethers made up to 54/-: good quality wethers 45/- to 46/6; lightweights 41/- to 43/-; unfinished sorts 35/- to 38/-; shorn withers from 30/- to 34/6; best quality maiden ewes made up to 43/-; fine quality ewes 37/- to 40/-; good quality 34/- to 36/-; medium 30/- to 33/-; unfinished 27/- to 29/-; thin and unfinished sorts 16/- to 22/-. FAT CATTLE.— The yarding was a large one, 220 head being penned compared with 148 last week. Values for best ox beef showed an appreciation of from 10/- to 15/a head. Heifers and cows sold at full late rates. Extra prime heavyweight bullocks made up to £26/17/6; prime heavyweight bullocks £2O to £24; medium £l5 to £18; light down to £l2; prime heavyweight heifers up to £l6; good quality heifers £l2 to £l4; light and unfinished £9 to £10; best heavyweight cows up to £l5/10/-; prime cows £9/10/- to £ll/10/-; light and unfinished £5/10/- to £6/10/-. STORE CATTLE.— There was a good yarding in the store cattle section, some goodconditioned bullocks being forward. There was a good attendance of buyers and all classes of store cattle sold at full late rates. Best-conditioned three-year-old bullocks made from £ll/12/- to £l3/11/-; other three-year-olds from £9 to £lO/10/-; wellbred two-year-old bullocks in forward condition from £9 to £lO/10/-; other two-year-olds £7 to £B. A pen of Hereford speyed heifers in forward condition made up to £lO. Other good conditioned heifers sold at £6/15/-; two-year-old heifers made up to £5/10/-; smaller down to £3/10/-; best yearling heifers up to £5; mixed colours £3 to £4; small sorts down to £2; best yearling steers up to £6; mixed sorts £3 to £4/10/-; best-conditioned empty cows to £7/2/-; good-conditioned sorts £5 to £6; aged sorts down to £2. DAIRY COWS.— There was a very small yarding. Best guaranteed sorts made up to £B/2/6; average cows £5 to £6; aged cows down to £2/2/-. STORE SHEEP.— The yarding consisted chiefly of hoggets. There were only two pens of ewes and lambs offered, these selling at 19/6 to 20/6 all counted. Well-grown wether hoggets made up to 30/-; small wether hoggets from 19/6 to 23/1; medium ewe hoggets 36/1; fine woolied sorts down to 23/-. McNAB STOCK SALE There was a good demand at the fortnightly stock sale at McNab yesterday for most classes of stock and the prices secured were about on a par with those ruling at recent sales. In the sheep section ewe hoggets sold well and realized 39/8 and 39/10. Fat ewes and a line of fat wethers made up the remainder of the sheep section. Ewes sold exceptionally well and made up to 40/3, this price being secured for a line of eight in prime condition. Other prices were 38/9, 38/- down to 31/-. Wethers made 26/3. Good prices were again secured for fat bullocks, up to £22/5/- being paid for bullocks in prime condition. Other prices were £l6/5/-, £l5/15/-, £l5/10/-, £l5/5/-, £l4/10/-, £l4/7/6, £l2/2/6 down to about £lO/10/-. Fat cows made up to £l5/15/-, the range being from £7/2/6. fat heifers brought up to £9/5/- and steers brought from £4/17/6 up to £5/11/-. Dairy cows made £7/2/6, a dairy heifer brought £6/12/6 and a yearling heifer realized £l/16/-. COMPANY DIVIDENDS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 27. The Stock Exchange Association has received the following advices: —The directors of the British Tobacco Company (Aust.) Ltd. have declared a dividend on preference shares at the rate of S'/s per cent, per annum for the three months ending October 31. . The half-yearly dividend of Broken HUI Proprietary Is 6d a share.
Alloy Steel (N.Z.) has announced a dividend for the half-year ended September 30 of 3’,'z per cent.
