ATTACK MADE ON CONSTABLES

Seven Men Arrested After Struggle (P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 26. Two Rotorua police constables were injured this afternoon when an unprovoked assault was allegedly made on them in the course of their duties at Waiotapu. Constable G. M. Kilgour is at present in Rotorua Hospital suffering from concussion, while Constable G. A. Morley received treatment for a broken wrist. The incident occurred at the Waiotapu forestry camp, about 20 miles from Rotorua. A call was made to the police during the afternoon by the manager about a small dispute about the occupation of a hut. Constable Kilgour, accompanied by Constable Morley, was dispatched. On their arrival they were allegedly attacked and assaulted by a number of Maoris. The police at Rotorua were immediately informed and Inspector Carroll, with a party of constables and members of the Army Provost Corps, went to the scene. They found those responsible for the disturbance armed with batons and ready for a fight. After a struggle the police arrested seven men, one of whom is in hospital.
