Mr R. Taylor, president of the Southland Drivers’ Union, will leave today for Wellington to attend a meeting of the national executive of the union. Mr K. B. Bain, of Christchurch, who died suddenly at Picton on Friday, had for several years been the resident representative of the Southland Cricket Association on the New Zealand Cricket Council.
Mr C. Robertson, who has been inspector of schools in the Auckland district for seven years, has been appointed acting senior inspector of schools at the Education Department’s office in Wellington. Reference to the death of Mr W. Cox, of Gore, was made before the beginning of the Gore Bowling Club’s pairs tournament yesterday. Mr Cox had been a member of the Gore Club for more than 30 years. Those present stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect.
