SECOND LIBERTY LOAN

Fourteen applications, involving £3300, were received for the second Liberty Loan stock in Southland yesterday. This brought Southland’s contribution to the loan to £89,200, subscribed by 137 applicants. Nineteen members of the staff of the Southland Building Society have contributed £2lO to the loan. The stock has been purchased by the society and will be repaid by members of the staff in instalments. Mr W. G. Nield, honorary secretary of the Invercargill Second Liberty Loan Committee, stated yesterday that he hoped this example would be followed by the employees of other firms. A talk on the loan will be given from station 4YZ at 7.15 p.m. on Tuesday by Mr R. T. Meredith, a member of the committee.
