ISSUE OF RATION BOOKS
Busy Day Yesterday
Yesterday was the buisiest day so far for the issue of new ration books at the Chief Post Office, Invercargill.'The total issued during the day was 3999, made up of 3239 ordinary books and 760 special books for children under the age of 10. In addition 1006 sheets of extra clothing coupons for cihldren between the ages of 5 and 17 were issued. The officials in charge of the distribution were very busy during the day, but not many persons availed themsclves of the opotrunity of collecting ration books during the hours that the office was specially open for the purpose last evening. To date 1.4,906 books have been issued at the Invercargill Post Office, made up of 12,549 ordinary and 2357 children’s hooks. Next week the hours for the issue of books will be 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on Wednesday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The office will not be open on Wednesday evening because of the blackout trial to be held in the city that evening.
