New Zealanders At Palace

(Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, October 21. Mrs Rabone, of Palmerston North, wife of Squadron Leader P. W. Rabone, who is a flight commander in a Beaufighter squadron, was received by the King at Buckingham Palace and handed the Distinguished Flying Cross won by her brother, acting FlightLieutenant Lindsay Buchanan, who has been missing in the Middle East since April 1941. The King handed the Distinguished Flying Cross to Mrs Rabone at a presentation of awards to next of kin at Buckingham Palace. He expressed sympathy and inquired how long Flight-Lieutenant Buchanan iiad served He also spoke to Squadron Leader Rabone, who accompanied his wife. The Order of the Crown of Yugoslavia has been awarded Flying Officers S. J. Madill (Auckland) and J. A. Henry Smith, both of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. The Yugoslav Government in London stated that no details at present were available of the exploits for which the awards were given.
