Notes for Women
Mrs K. Golden, Lewis street, is visiting Christchurch. Mrs C. Jennings and Miss Jennings will return to Hamilton on Saturday after spending a holiday in Invercargill. Miss M. Robertson, Lake Tekapo, South Canterbury, has been spending a holiday with Mrs R. Allan, Birchwood. Miss N. Hazlett, of the W.A.A.F., who has been spending a few days’ leave at her home in Melbourne street, has returned north. Mrs C. Johnston, who has been visiting friends in Southland, was a guest at the Dunedin Travel Club before returning to Wellington. . Mrs N. Macintosh, Quarry Hills, provincial president of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, has left to attend an advisory board meeting In Wellington. As a mark of respect to the memory of Miss A. E. McNaughton, the members of the Great War Funds Administrative Committee of the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and New Zealand Red Cross Srciety at a meeting of the Southland branch stood in silence. Miss McNaughton was for many years the society’s representative at Riverton.
On Wednesday night the Southland branch of the Registered Nurses’ Association held its annual dinner, more than 70 members being present. In the unavoidable absence of Miss D. Buchanan, the guests were received by Mrs L. W. Hemmings and Miss J. E. McLeod. The guests included Miss E. J. Young. Dominion president, and Misses L. Kibblewhite and K. Smith representing the Student Nurses’ Association. After dinner Miss Young outlined the activities of the Dominion executive.
