Labourer’s Crimes
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 22. Wearing a white jacket similar to that worn by grocers, Alfred Thomas Neckelson, aged 24, a labourer, was arrested by detectives during the morning of October 9 after attempting to unlock the back door’ of a residence at Sandringham. He had 43 keys in his possession. Neckelson pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court today to 24 charges of breaking, entering and theft. The police said the value of the property stolen since August of last year, including jewellery and money, totalled £332. Property valued at £l6B had been recovered by the police. One charge was breaking into the home of Detective Cossill and stealing an automatic pistol and holster and money of a total value of £l2.
The accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. For failing to enrol Neckelson was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment.
