BOYS’ HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS

Weather Mars Programme

Intermittent showers of rain during the early part of the afternoon accompanied by a cold westerly wind considerably marred the annual sports of the Southland Boys High School held at the school grounds yesterday. However, the unpleasant conditions could not dampen the enthusiasm of the masters and the boys and the day’s programme of sport was completed in good time. Several events were decided on Wednesday, but all the championship events were held yesterday. Some good finishes were seen during the day, but except foi the fine performances of R. McDermott in junior events, the sports day was not more spectacular than that of other years. The form competition was won by the sixth form with 71 points. 5R was next with 59 points and SU, 4A and 4B came next with 56, 55 and 49 points respectively. R.
