Notes for Women
Mrs R. Creeser, Avenal Flats, leaves this morning on a visit to Dunedin. Mrs M. C. Fulton, who has been tne guest of Mrs R. Creeser, Avenal Flats, returns to Christchurch today. Mrs E. V. McKeever, Pomona street, win return tonight from a short visit to DunPrivate Oscar Pumpa and Mrs Pumpa, who have been visiting Balfour and Mossburn, have returned north. The annual meeting of the Arts and Cratts Circle of the Southland Women’s Club was held yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members. The election or office-bearers resulted: Chairman, Mrs J. N. Armour; secretary, Mrs H. Drees; committee, Mesdames N. Earl, W. R. Rea, W. Watson, J. McCrostie, F. Lange, C. Lange and Miss U. Godward. Mrs J. Holloway and Miss M. O Co ™ o ’’ were hostesses when St. Mary's Bridge Club held its fortnightly function in St. Mary s Hall in aid of the soldiers’ parcels fund. There were 30 tables in play. The following were the prize-winners: Miss D. Deegan, Miss M. Short, Mrs Moffat, Miss Giifedder and Mr T. J. Dwyer. After the annual meeting of the Arts and Crafts Circle of the Southland Women s Club yesterday’ afternoon, Mrs H. S. Bridgewater, who is president of the Southland Home Science Alumnae, gave an interesting talk on feeding the people in war-time. Mrs Bridgewater discussed the value of correct feeding on the powers of endurance and stressed the importance ot sugar in the diet. Mrs J. N. Armour introduced Mrs Bridgewater and Mrs J. D. Gilmore, president of the club, thanked the speaker on behalf of the large audience and presented her with a shoulder spray of flowers.
