ISSUE OF RATION BOOKS
On Monday and Tuesday 4933 ration books were issued from the Chief Post Office, Invercargill. The total on Tuesday was 2576 books made up of 2196 ordinary books and 380 "C" books for children 10 years of age and under. The total number of books which it Is expected will be Issued in the Invercargill food area, which includes the city and adjacent rural districts, is 33,000. When application is made for a ration book for a child wider the age’ of 17 on January 1 next the date and year of birth of the child should be given in the space on the “O” coupon counterfoil provided for the retailer's name. This is necessary because children between the ages of 5 and 17 are entitled to extra clothing coupons. On Monday 556 sheets of extra clothing coupons were issued at the Chief Post Office and on Tuesday the number was 771.
