STILL NO TRACE.— The search for Kenneth Thompson, aged 6 *.2. who has been missing from his home at Mataura since Sunday afternoon, was continued yesterday, but at a late hour last night no trace of the boy had been found. NATIONAL SAVINGS.— The following towns in Southland reached their National Savings quotas last week:—lnvercargill, Bluff, Edendale, Lumsden, Mataura, Riverton, Thornbury, Tuatapere, Waikaka, Winton and Wyndham. The total amount received was £3452. Tuatapere has had 51 quota successes and Invercargill 48. WORKERS’ CONCESSION TICKETS.— The hours on which workers’ concession tickets are available on the city’s trams have been extended to include 9 to 9.30 on Friday nights, and 11.45 a.m. to 12.45 p.m. on Saturdays. CONFERENCE ABANDONED.— The question of tire distribution of heavy traffic fees among local bodies in Southland was to have been discussed at a conference which the City Council agreed to arrange at the suggestion of the Wallace County Council. The Wallace Council was to have submitted changes in the distribution which it thought warranted, but it has now informed the City Council that it considers that the conference should not be held and that the matter should be held over until after the war. DANGER TO TRAFFlC.— Because with the present lighting restrictions the grass plot in fay street is thought to constitute a danger to road traffic, the City Council has decided to have the base painted white. The Automobile Association (Southland) brought the matter to the notice of the council. INJURED AIRMAN— The name of the airman who received concussion when he fell from an aircraft was Leading Aircraftman John Robert Tones (not Jones).— P JU
