RELIEF GOODS FOR ENGLAND.— Advices have just been received that a further large shipment of relief gift goods through the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society has arrived safely in England. The War Organization of the British Red Cross Society states that the goods are a very welcome gift. It is also stated that they are not only greatly appreciated, but will be most helpful in these days of stress, and especially during the coming cold weather. SLIGHT DAMAGE TO HOUSE.—A spark from a chimney resulted in a fire which caused slight damage to the rear comer of a house at 28 Thames street, occupied by Mrs lan Cameron, on Saturday. The City Fire Brigade received a call at 11.54 a.m. and the outbreak was soon extinguished. OPOSSUM SKIN PRICES.— In the report of the opossum skin sale at Dunedin printed on Saturday morning, the best price paid for blues was given as 18/11. This should have been 8/11. NEWS OF SERGEANT HINTON, V.C.— Sergeant J. D. Hinton, V.C., in a letter to Ml H. J. Geebeck, overseer of the Public Works Department, Hokitika, states that he is out of hospital and feeling well. Sergeant Hinton, whose parents live at Colac Bay, is a prisoner of war at Stalag 9C, Germany.
