WAIKATO COAL MINES CONTROL BOARD

Personnel ' Announced (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 17. The Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, announced today that the following personnel had been appointed to the Waikato Coal Mines Control Board: The Minister of Mines (chairman), Mr Henry Morpeth (chairman pf the Waikato Colleries’ Association), Mr Hendry Luke (managing director of Wilton Collieries), Mr William Parsonage (superintendent of the Glen Afton Collieries), Mr J Watson (superintendent of the Taupiri Coal Mines), Mr J. Declictrary (United Mine Workers of New Zealand), Mr T. Hall (secretary of the Northern Miners’ Union), and Mr C. J. Strongman (superintendent of the State Coal Mines). In the absence of the Minister, Mr C. H. Benny (Under-Secretary for Mines) will act as chairman. . Mr Webb said he had accepted without hesitation the nominations submitted. by the mine-owners and had selected the two men who had received the greatest support at the individual collieries from those nominated by the miners. The Minister also expressed his belief that the board would work together as a team to produce the maximum quantity of coal while giving the greatest measure of safety to the workmen.
