DERAILMENT OF GOODS TRAIN

Early yesterday morning several wagons of a goods train were derailed at the Kuriwao siding, between Clinton and Waiwera. The train had left Invercargill at 9.15 p.m. on Thursday for Dunedin, and the derailment of several trucks containing coal caused a long i delay to the goods train from Dunedin which was due to arrive in Invercargill early yesterday morning, but which did not arrive until after midday. Its cargo included fruit and vegetables for the Southland market. The 7 a.m. Invercargill-Christchurch express was not scheduled to run yesterday and the line had been cleared in time to allow for the passage of the express due at Invercargill at 1.10 p.m.
