TORPEDOED IN ST. LAWRENCE
(Rec. 11.30 p.m.) QUEBEC, Oct. 15. A submarine torpedoed and sank a merchantman in a small convoy off Metis Beach, 180 miles upstream from the mouth of the St. Lawrence river. Twelve men are missing. Eighteen were rescued.
