VICHY APPEALS TO PEOPLE OF MADAGASCAR
(Rec. 11.30 pjn.). LONDON, Oct. 16. Vichy radio broadcast an appeal to the people of Madagascar to “keep up your faithfulness to France now that the greater part of the island is in enemy hands despite heroic resistance.’’ The radio urged civilians and officials to remain at their posts and to continue working in the interests of their country, but absolutely respecting their oath to Petain.
