SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED
WlNTON— Trooper T. Daly, a former resident of Winton, spent two days of his furlough in the town, and during his stay was met by the Mayor (Mr N. Metzger, who conveyed to him the best wishes of the residents and made the usual presentation. NIGHTCAPS.— Private William Callow and Driver Arnold Tinker were the guests of the Nightcaps Patriotic Committee at a public function. Mr D. Sinclair, chairman of the Town Board, who presided, said that both of them spent their boyhood in Nightcaps and attended the local school, and their parents were old and highly respected citizens. In asking them to accept the usual monetary donation from the residents lie expressed the hope that both of them would enjoy the best of good fortune and return soon to civil life. Mr A. Williams spoke on behalf of the R.S.A. The Football Club was represented by Mr John Duncan, who spoke of Private Callow’s ability as a player and handed him a gift. Several men on leave were given cigarettes.
