N.Z. BOMBER PILOTS
Many Operate Stirlings (Special Correspondent, N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON, October 14. The New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr W. J. Jordan, while visiting a Short Stirling squadron met many New Zealanders operating these heavy bombers. They included Pilot Officers D. Newall (Timaru), G. Patrick (Dunedin), F. J. Jones and L. J. Drummond (Auckland) and H. S. Gilbert (Wellington), Flight-Sergeants E. H. Howell (Wellington) and K. Smith (Auckland) and Sergeants P. A. Roadomski (Wellington), L. K. Warren and I. Connelly (Auckland), K. G. McKenzie (Invercargill), M. Torrance (Christchurch), W. L. Harvey (Central Otago), Scott (Banks Peninsula) and H. C. Whitewell. Many have nearly completed their operational tours. Sergeant Torrance secured the probable destruction of a Messerschmitt near Wilhelmshaven.
