MODIFIED SUMMER SHOW

The schedule for the seventy-sixth Southland Summer Show has just been issued. It was thought at first that it would not be possible to hold the show this year, but the directors of the’ Southland Agricultural and Pastoral Association felt that it was necessary to hold even a modified show to maintain the interest of members. Accordingly it was decided to hold a one-day show on Wednesday, December 9. It has been found necessary to exclude all the cattle sections except four classes of fat cattle. The sheep sections will be as usual, but modifications have been made in the horse sections. The draught breed will be restricted to four classes for fillies, but practically all the light horse classes have been retained. There will be no classes for pigs. A full programme of competitions for the day has been arranged, including the South Island championship jump, which has been a popular feature of recent shows. Classes have been provided for Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club members.
