JOE LOUIS’S FUTURE
Plans To Defend Title NEW YORK, October 13. Although the Press is giving tremendous publicity to Joe Louis’s reported retirement, Louis told the promoter Mike Jacobs emphatically that he is not retiring. Furthermore, as soon as the war is over he will be back in the ring defending the title. The New York Athletic Commissioner, Mr Phelan, declared that Louis will be regarded as world champion until he submits written notice of his retirement.
