SHIP-BUILDING IN AMERICA
(8.0.W.) RUGBY, October 10. Rear-Admiral H. L. Vickery, vice-chairman of the United States Maritime Commission, told the Foreign Trade Council in New York that the United States would build four merchant- ships daily in January. Ninety-three ships were placed in service last month. “American shipyards have the capacity to produce substantially more than the 16,000,000 tons scheduled for delivery during 1943 and more than 312 Liberty, ships have already been placed in service,” he said.
