UNDERWOOD HOME GUARD

PRESENTATION MADE TO QUARTERMASTER At the conclusion of the weekly parade of the Underwood Home Guard on Wednesday night, a smoke concert was held in honour of Guardsman D. Lilico, who has been quartermaster since the inception of the unit and who is leaving to become quartermaster for the Awarua Battalion. After tributes had been paid by several speakers to the good work done and energy displayed by Mr Lilico, he was presented with a smoker’s outfit. The opportunity was also taken to make a presentation to Lieutenant Little who, in the early stages of the formation of the Home Guard, devoted a tremendous amount of his own time to the training of the men, who wished to express their appreciation of what he had done. Among the guests of the evening was Lieutenant-Colonel W. Bell.
