WAR’S TURNING-POINT

Famous Economist’s Opinion NEW YORK, October 7. September marked the turning-point of the war and an Allied victory would be achieved in about a year, said Dr Melchior Palyi, at one time economic adviser to the Reichsbank in Berlin, addressing a war emergency conference. He added that once Germany was vanquished Japan could be regarded as a major colonial expedition. Dr Palyi is a famous German economist of Hungarian origin. He has held posts at the Munich Commercial High School, the Berlin Commercial High School and Gottingen University. He was appointed a visiting professor of the University of Chicago in 1927. In 1929 he was appointed expert adviser to the Deutsche Bank und Disconto Gesellschaft. Later came his appointment to the Reichsbank. He is the author of several technical works.
