FISHING LICENCE FEES

Difference Between Two Islands A fishing licence for the whole season costs 25/- in the South Island, but in the North Island the charge is 30/-. So South Island fishermen who wish to enjoy their sport in the North Island will have to pay an extra 5/-. This was reported at a meeting of the council of tire Southland Acclimatization Society last night, when the latest regulations dealing with fishing licence fees were considered. The fees set out in the regulations were as follows:—Men, 25/- for whole season, 15/- for half-season, 10/- monthly, 7/6 weekly, 5/- daily; women, 7/6 for whole season and 5/- monthly, weekly or daily; youths 16 to 18, 12/6 for whole season; youths under 16, 5/- for whole season. It was stated that the full season fees for women and youths covered the whole Dominion and they did not, therefore, have to pay an extra fee to fish in the North Island. Monthly, weekly and daily licences were available for use in the district of issue only. It was decided that monthly licences should not be issued in Southland, and that complimentary licences be issued to soldiers on leave once during the season and for any period up to 10 days.
