SPECIAL BUTTERFAT PAYMENT
Change-over From Cheese (P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 8. "This special payment is being made to suppliers who changed over to cheese-making during the last two season and who now have reverted to butter-making,” the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. J. G. Barclcay, said tonight when making a statement on the appointment of a special payment of l|d per lb of butterfat between farm owner and share milker. “The payment is intended to be compensation for inevitable losses incurred and sacrifices made in the double change-over, including reduced returns from pigs,” Mr. Barclay added. Payment would be made to the supplier, and it was intended that it should be apportioned by the supplier and the share milker between them. It was impossible to lay down a rule for apportionment, but it was suggested that if agreement were not reached arbitration as provided in share-milking agreements be used.
