WAIPIATA SANATORIUM COMMITTEE

The monthly meeting of the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee was held at Dunedin. The medical superintendent, Dr A. Kidd, reported that during August 21 patients had been admitted, 29 were discharged, and 124 were in the institution at the end of the month. He recommended as suitable for admission to the sanatorium three patients from Southland and two from South Canterbury. The secretary reported that on September 28 the associated boards had patients in the institution as follows: Southland 62, South Canterbury 29, Ashburton 10, Waitaki 10, South Otago 12, Vincent 3, Maniototo 4—a total of 130. Since the previous meeting 12 patients from three hospital districts had been discharged and there was a waiting list of six patients from two districts for admission. The treasurer submitted statements of the committee’s receipts and payments showing that on August 31 there was a credit balance of £12,263/19/3.
