ALLEGED SUBVERSIVE STATEMENT

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, October 7. Three charges under the emergency regulations , were heard in the Magistrate’s Court today against Ormond Edward Burton, a former minister of religion. After pleading not guilty he was committed to the Supreme Court for trial by Mr J. L. Stout, S.M. He was charged with editing a bulletin of the New Zealand Christian Pacifist Society with a view to facilitating the publication of a subversive statement, with attempting to publish a subversive statement and with publishing a subversive statement. • The accused was admitted to ball la hid own recognisance of £5O.
