DAIRYMEN’S SUBSIDY
(Rec. 1.30 a.m.) CANBERRA, Oct 7. The Federal Cabinet has decided to grant a subsidy of £2,000,000 a year to the dairy industry ,_ according to an announcement made in toe House of Representatives by toe Prime Minister, Mr John Curtin. For some time the dairy industry has been suffering considerable difficulty because of toe shortage of man-power due to military call-ups and toe higher wages offering in toe various munition factories. The subsidy will be allocated by toe Tariff Board with toe object of ensuring adequate supplies for toe Armed Forces, toe civilian population and toe people of Britain, also to provide an adequate living for toe farmers and their employees.
