SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED

TlSBURY.— Private J. Lardner, who is at present home on leave from overseas service, was the guest of honour at a social evening held in the Tisbury Hall. During the evening Mr J. Girvan, the chairman, made a presentation to Private Lardner and welcomed other soldiers present. Other speakers were Mr A. J. Collie, who spoke on behalf of returned soldiers of the last war, and Mr G. Jaquiery. RIVERTON— A social in honour of Leading Aircraftmen D. Wilkes and B. L. Girvan was held in Fleck’s Hall. Riverton. The Mayor, Dr N. G. Trotter, made a presentation and extended a welcome to Sergeants C. de Clifford and Bailey. The Rev. Father Fitz Gibbon and Mr W. Whittingham also extended good wishes. CLIFTON— The Clifton hall was filled when residents and friends met to honour Signalman R. G. McKenzie. Mr E. McKenzie presided and after extending good wishes presented the guest with a wallet containing notes. Mr H. Smith spoke on behalf of the citizens, Mr G. McDermott for the Home Guard unit and Mr F. McEachran for the local patriotic committee.
