Sir, —After the recent tragedy in the Main street of Gore it is with surprise that one reads that six Kittyhawk planes are coming to Invercargill for the purpose of turning on a show. In these difficult times the Minister of Defence should not be pestered into sending war planes away from their headquarters merely to entertain the civil population. There should be economy in man-power, planes and petrol. SPITFIRE.
