AUSTRALIAN SHARE PRICES
No General Revisions (Rec. 11.25 p.m.) CANBERRA, Oct. 6. There is to be no further general revisions of Stock Exchange prices while the war situation remains critical, the Federal Treasurer, Mr J. B. Chifley, announced today. Mr Chifley indicated that in special' circumstances a revision of the prices of individual stocks may be permitted, but this will be done only on the authority of the Federal Treasurer after consideration of special representations made by a stock exchange. The reason for the action is that the Government feels that a continued upward movement of stock exchange prices is undesirable.
