COMMUNIST ACTIVITY
British Labour’s Warning (8.0.W.) RUGBY, September 2. The National Executive of the British Labour Party has circulated affiliated organizations warning them against the Communist Party subversive activities under the cloak of friendship for Russia. The circular recalls that the Labour Party Conference at Whitsun by 1,899,000 votes to 132,000 rejected the proposed co-operation with the Communist Party. It adds: “The fact must not be lost sight of that the Communist Party is supporting the war effort not because Britain is or has been in danger or because freedom and democracy are at stake, but solely because of Russia. Labour Party members must not be led astray by the expensive propaganda oi a very small political organization mysteriously commanding very large funds. Labour Party members must remember that many nations are fighting on Britain’s side, some of whom have claims as great upon our generosity as has Russia.”
